Project Description:
Detroit Contracting, Inc. (DCI), contracted with DWSD to complete the following work:

Exterior work:
Construction of a 26’x57’ reinforced concrete pressure reducing valve vault valve well 1B to house two (2) 36” Cone Valves and two (2) 54” Butterfly Valves these valves will regulate the pressure of water entering the pump station. This task also includes the raising the walls of an existing valve well 1A four (4’) feet to match the height of the connecting valve well 1B. Metal walkways were also installed for ease of motion and maintenance. The valve wells received all new electrical components and ventilation. In addition to the valves 112 linear feet of 54” steel piping was installed to connect the associated valves to the system requiring two (2) 60” flanged connections to existing yard piping.

Interior work:
Isolation of an existing 84” suction header. This isolation made it possible for the removal of an existing 60” Gate Valve and associated 60” pipe sections. An 84” Butterfly Valve was installed on the existing 84” suction header pipe in series with two (2) 60” Gate Valves and related appurtenances. This afforded the station a method to isolate suction header no.1 from the rest of the station if necessary for repairs or maintenance.
